If I open and use my Simply Spray can, how should I store it to reuse at a later date? We strongly recommend that you use the product in its entirety after the first opening. You will get the best results if you use it all at once. If you set it aside and try to spray it again, paint could dry in the valve. You should store any opened cans upside-down in water so that the trigger is completely submerged.
I accidentally got some Simply Spray on my clothing while I was using it, what can I do? Well, one of the great things about Simply Spray is that it is permanent on your project. But when you accidentally get Simply Spray on your clothes it is also permanent…you want to wash them asap! You should wash your clothes using liquid fabric softener because fabric softener breaks down the pigment in the paint. There’s no magical solution to remove the paint from clothing, all material is different, so you just need to keep washing them. Put soap directly on the paint and scrub using a wash cloth for friction.
I am planning to use Simply Spray outside, will it ruin my grass if I get paint on it? We always recommend that you cover your work area. Simply Spray is not harmful if you get some on your grass, but it should be avoided. It will change the color of your grass temporarily. Simply Spray should wash off your grass when the next rain passes by.
What happens if I get Simply Spray on my deck or cement? We always recommend that you cover your work area. Simply Spray will soak into your deck or cement and can be difficult to remove. You should wash the area with a steel brush and strong cleaner that won’t harm your surface.
How long do I have to wait between colors before I can spray the next color? You do not need to wait for the paint to dry before applying your next color. Keep in mind that if the paint is wet from the first color and you touch it, then immediately try to twist in another area…you might transfer the first color from your hands to that area.
How do I stop the paint from leaking through to the back of the shirt? The easiest way to avoid this, is to spray in light layers and do not soak the shirt. Move the can slowly across the shirt while you are spraying and do not leave the can spraying in one spot. You can also put a piece of cardboard inside the shirt so there is a barrier between the layers.
Can you wash your fabric after using Simply Spray? Yes, you can wash Simply Spray. You should not use any type of liquid or sheet fabric softener. Fabric softener breaks down the pigments in the paint. You should wash your garments inside out. The first time you wash your garment, the excess paint will wash off the fabric. After the initial wash, you should not notice significant fading. Wait 72 hours before washing for the first time. We do not recommend dry cleaning.
Will it rub off the fabric? If you wait the full 72 hours to dry, the paint should not rub off. However, if the material you are painting is not fully absorbent, there may be excess paint that did not absorb into the fibers. You should wipe the fabric with a rag to remove any excess paint after 72 hours.
Will the paint fade in the sun? The paint should not fade in the sun if exposed to normal weather conditions. If it happens to fade over a long period of time, you can spray it back to new! You should not use any type of liquid or sheet fabric softener. Fabric softener breaks down the pigments in the paint. You should wash your garments inside out. The first time you wash your garment, the excess paint will wash off the fabric. After the initial wash, you should not notice significant fading, Will it make the fabric stiff? No, Simply Spray remains soft when it dries. After washing, you should not even feel the paint on the fabric. You can sleep on it!
This does not spray like any other spray paint I have used, why? Simply Spray has a patented spray mechanism and is designed to use specifically with our products. The trigger requires you to pull back rather than push down. The paint is not propelled by the harmful gases used in regular spray paint.
How come I needed more paint than your packaging suggests? We try our best to make a good estimate for your projects. Each can contains 2.5 fluid ounces of paint. It sounds simple, but if you use more paint on one project…that means you’ll have less paint left for the next! We give our best judgment based on our own experience.
Can I embroider or use an iron on transfer after using Simply Spray on my fabric? Yes, once your paint dries you will notice the fabric will feel soft to the touch. You can iron the fabric, screen print, or embroider it.
Do you have a paint that will glow under blacklight? At this time, the only paint that we have that works under blacklight is the Simply Spray Brite Pink.
Do you have a glow in the dark paint? No, we do not have any paint that glows in the dark.
Will Simply Spray work on furniture, like my sofa? We have a specially formulated paint, Upholstery Paint, that we developed to work with upholstery. We suggest using our Upholstery paint, but there are colors that may not be offered in the Upholstery Paint line that are offered in Simply Spray. Depending on the fabric, Simply Spray will work on upholstery. However, the Upholstery Paint has a stronger binder and if you are using Simply Spray on upholstery it might rub off. It is always best to test on a small piece of scrap fabric before proceeding. Simply Spray works best on 100% light colored fabric. Simply Spray will not cover dark fabric. You will need to apply a few coats of paint to fully cover your upholstery. The number of cans varies depending on the size of the piece of furniture. Always remember to protect your work area.
Will Simply Spray work on wood? Simply Spray will stain wood that is not finished. Apply a few coats for darker coverage. Will Simply Spray work on silk or polyester? Simply Spray will work on silk, but it will not have the same affect as it will on 100% cotton. Simply Spray will run on silk, leaving a more tie-dyed look.
Will Simply Spray work on leather or suede? Simply Spray will stain leather or suede like a dye. The leather must be able to absorb water and should not be treated with a waterproof spray.
My Simply Spray can will not spray again, what should I do?

You might have pulled the trigger back to hard. If the trigger is pulled back too hard, it can stick. Simply put your index finger behind the blue trigger and push it forward. A "pop" or "click" should happen. If you push on the trigger a few times, it should start spraying again. If you leave your can with the trigger out of position, the gas with seep out, rendering the can unusable. Think of the paint as a can of whipped cream… if you only pull lightly on the nozzle- the gas will seep out. Sometimes paint might build up in the nozzle after it is used. We suggest that you pick off any excess paint from the nozzle opening and then flip the can upside down and spray to clear the passage. The force of the spray should clear the way! We also suggest storing your used paints upside-down in water if you will not be using them right away.
Do I have to heat set my project? NO! One of the greatest things about Simply Spray is that it sets itself! You do not need to iron or put it in the dryer! Just wait 72 hours before washing! You can use a hair dryer to help speed up the drying process to the touch, but it will not set the paint any faster.
Can I wash my painted shirt with other garments, or will it run? The first time you wash your shirt you should wash it separately. After that, washing it with like colors is recommended. You should not use any type of liquid or sheet fabric softener. Fabric softener breaks down the pigments in the paint. You should wash your garments inside out. Wait 72 hours before washing for the first time. We do not recommend dry cleaning.
How many shirts does one can make? This is the question everyone wants to know! Depending on your use for Simply Spray you can make many projects! When making tie-dye shirts you can make about 4 adult large shirts, front & back. A little Simply Spray goes a long way! Mixing other colors also limits the amount of cans you will need! Small projects like an accent will give you endless projects! When sprayed out in one single layer, one can of Simply Spray will cover approximately 30 square feet. Keep in mind that you might want the color to be darker and more vibrant so you may want to use more than a single layer.
Can you use stencils with Simply Spray or just Stencil Spray? Yes, you can stencil with Simply Spray. It requires a little more skill than stenciling with Stencil Spray does. The paint for Stencil Spray is thicker and it sticks to the stencil allowing nice crisp edges! You should lightly spray stencil with spray glue and use and absorbent material to protect the rest of your project. To stencil with Simply Spray you should pat the top of the stencil off with a paper towel after spraying to avoid excess paint dripping. Be careful when pulling the stencil off!
How long will it take to dry? On average it will take about 30 minutes to 1 hour for your project to dry. Depending on how much paint you used it could be longer or even shorter!
Can I wear my garment without washing it? Yes, once the paint is fully dry you can wear the garment without transferring the paint to your skin.
What happens if the can freezes during shipping? Simply Spray is freeze/thaw stable. If the product freezes, it should still function when thawed.
Will the color fade or wash out after I wash it? We recommend that you wash your garment inside out to minimize fading. Also, using fabric softener in the washing machine or dryer will result in fading. The first time you wash your garment you will notice a slight fade in color, but the color will remain vibrant after many washings! You should wait 72 hours before washing. |
